Hash Tool

Compute digests, HMAC signatures, streaming file checksums, verify hashes, and experiment with salting — entirely locally.

All processing on this page runs locally in your browser unless noted otherwise.

Output format
MD5, SHA, and CRC are digests — not suitable for storing user passwords. Use the Password tab for Argon2id / bcrypt / PBKDF2.

How to use

  1. Pick algorithms and an output format in Options (shared across tabs).
  2. Enter text, HMAC inputs, or files, then click Compute — nothing runs automatically.
  3. Copy single rows, copy all, or export a text / sum checklist.
  4. Use Verify to compare digests, or Identify to guess algorithms by length.

FAQ

Is data uploaded?

No. Hashing and HMAC run entirely in your browser. Large files are streamed in 4MB chunks.

Why must I click Compute?

To match other ToolsWorkbox sites and avoid surprise CPU work while typing or dropping files.

Can I cancel a long file hash?

Yes. While Computing on the Files tab, use Cancel to abort chunk reads.

Can other ToolsWorkbox sites open this page with text filled in?
